Season Finale KRAUTH Racing finishes in sixth Martin Tschornia, Steve Smith, and Einar Thorsen crossed the finishing line in the tenth race of the Nürburgring long-distance championships in sixth place. Problems in the early part of the race prevented the team from securing a spot on the winners’ podium. The 36th DMV Münsterland Cup, simultaneously the last event in the Nürburgring long-distance championship season, began with an excellent showing in qualifying for Krauth Racing from Hamburg. With a lap time of 9:24.764 min., Martin Tschornia took the BMW Z4 M Coupé into third row on the grid in the V6 class for production cars up to 3.5 liters. Tschornia also piloted the BMW at the start of the four-hour event, but after only three laps he was forced to make an unplanned visit to the pit lane to a replace a broken V-belt. In all, fixing the damage cost the team led by Nils Reimer, who this time spent the event concentrating on the work in the pits, a whole 16 minutes. Dreams of a place at the head of the field sadly faded. Nevertheless, Martin Tschornia, Steve Smith, and Einar Thorsen fought hard to get ahead from tenth place. After a little over four hours of driving, Einar Thorsen, driving the last stint, crossed the finishing line to come in sixth in his class. After the race, Nils Reimer explained: “The failure of the V-belt cost us 16 minutes of track time. If you look at the results, we could probably have come in second if we hadn’t been knocked out of the running by the problem. It’s a real shame that we couldn’t round off the season with a place on the winners’ podium. But we all still had loads of fun here today, and even more importantly, everything made it through without a scratch. So now we’re looking forward to next year’s season and our next chance of taking up the challenge again." KRAUTH-Motorsport-News
